"Yo Sí Quería" is the full-length album of Malapata, and third release overall after the first two promotional EP. The album included 9 songs written between 2014 and 2015 during the early days of the band.
The album was recorded in Uniphonic Studios in Mexico City in early 2016 and released in December of the same year, following the release of Prisoner, the lead single of the album.
Production
With writing spanning over the course of 2 years, preproduction and demo recordings started in April 2016, in Malapata's own rehearsal room and home studios.
Recordings took place over the course of 15 days in Uniphonic Studios in Mexico City, with 5 more days of pre mix and FX print, and 9 days of mixing on-site.
The Artwork
The album art is based on the classic board game "Clue", which sole purpose is to find out who committed a murder.
For the album, the victim is the very own personification of Malapata, an unnamed person whose only mistake was to love and trust too much.
